Wonder Music
Early Childhood Music Program
Looks like you’re interested in offering a music program in your early childhood learning centre.
That’s a lovely idea, and here’s why…
Music is an excellent tool for cognitive development in early childhood because it engages multiple areas of the brain simultaneously. When children listen to music, they activate memory, attention, and language-processing skills. Singing songs with repetitive patterns helps improve language acquisition, while learning rhythms and melodies strengthens mathematical abilities by introducing counting and sequencing. Music also encourages creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving as children explore different sounds, instruments, and movements. By incorporating music into early childhood programs, educators can foster a stimulating environment that enhances children's overall intellectual growth.
Here’s what you can expect from a Wonder Music Session…
Starting with a friendly music greeting and song, the children get excited for a fun and engaging musical experience.
The next 20 minutes are filled with a variety of singing, dancing, call and response and even some adventure songs like ‘Dragon Hunt’.
Up next is the percussion section of the session. The aim is for children to learn how to share and be respectful to their classmates as they find their instrument. Now it’s time to explore what sounds you can make with your instrument. Can you make a loud noise? How about soft? We continue to explore as we play along to various songs with strong rhythm patterns.
We finish with a wrap up, thank you’s and see you next times.
